The big event in the lives of West Pointians during the week of April 2, 1951, was the grand opening of the Royal Theatre on West Main Street.

Of everything he wanted to accomplish Tuesday in West Point, a Kentucky-based education expert said he most hoped to instill in his audience a sense of urgency.
